I’ve always wanted to learn a universal skill that I could use wherever I am on this planet. Something that would be useful, maybe even help others and especially wouldn’t be related to only one particular surrounding.
Now being in Thailand I got the ultimate chance to learn how to do an original Thai massage. I mean if I don’t learn it in Thailand, where else?? There are plenty of class offers existing in Germany as well but 1. it’s way more expensive and 2. I would just learn it from people who learned in Thailand themselves. So I decided to skip my trip to Krabi and do the massage course instead.
This meant getting up early, practicing most of the day, remembering a lot of things, and also having sore hands from learning how to properly use my thumbs and palms. It was challenging but definitely worth it. Because it’s not only learning how to make a customer happy by pressing the right spots but also concentrating on yourself. And that’s where the massage actually starts. It’s a lot about transferring good energy to another person. If you have a bad day and you can’t concentrate on this very moment, your customer is most probably going to feel it and won’t have a very satisfying experience.
Also, it’s a very old tradition and just part of the culture. I mean could you imagine going to Thailand and not getting a massage? I definitely couldn’t. Also because it was what everybody recommended before I came here. So now I feel that I have something from Thailand o can take away with me back home and everywhere I go. It’s something spiritual nobody can take away anymore. Some kind of awareness about you and the other person and being thankful for the moment.
